PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS

 

- Construcción: ‘had’ + ‘been’ + el infinitivo del verbo que corresponda añadiéndole ‘–ing’

When I arrived there, she had been working all night.

When I arrived there, she hadn’t been working all night.

When I arrived there, had she been working all night? Yes, she had.

                                                                                            No, she hadn’t

Usos:

- resalta la duración de una acción que ocurrió en el pasado antes que otra:

Ken had been smoking for 30 years when he finally gave it up.
